History: Sacred Heart Church ( Myaung Mya parish )
The mission by the arrival of Fr. Domingo Traroli at Tazingone in 1848 March 19. Unfortunately the mission was completely destroyed in 1852 when the war broke out between English and Burma. By the providence of God the mission was reinforced in other form by the hard work of missionaries and in 1856 the compound of R.C.M was firmly Established in Myaung Mya. The mission in Myaung Mya had flourished peacefully until for about hundred year and 1942 it was destroyed again in war between Karenand Burman. Soon after the sorrowful event Fr. Stephen arrived in Myaung Mya to undertake the reconstruction. Then Fr. Ogent too arrived in Myaung Mya in 1945 to continued the mission. When Fr. Martin Narbitz(MEP), came to Myaung Mya in 1947,with strang vigor the mission bagan to florish. He undertook the work of constructing a new church which is now known as Sacred Heart church. |
