Theological Background:
“My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God”said Mary in the Magnificat! In the liturgical celebration, the Church sings praise to God. The whole creation is the manifestation of the glory of God. The threefold missions of the Church are to proclaim, to celebrate and to serve. The foundation of the celebration is thanksgiving. The whole Church celebrates in thanksgiving to God for all the blessings received abundantly from his hands.
Commission functioning in the diocese:
Liturgy is the life of the Church. The priests and the assembly gather together and celebrate the liturgy. The daily Mass is celebrated in every parish chapels , in the religious institutes and in the formation houses in the diocese of Pathein. The diocese continues the threefold offices of the Church which are teaching, sanctifying and governing. In the office of sanctifying the diocese celebrates the Sacraments with the people and for the people. Among the Sacraments, the Church celebrates the Eucharist which is the foundation of the life of the Church.

Goal: Improved active and attentive participation in the Liturgy for growth of personal and community spiritual life
Objectives:
â— To promote a deeper understanding of the Sacrifice of the Mass as the source of Christians life, by organizing Masses for all ages ( including Youth and Children)
â— To strengthen better understanding and devotion to the essence of the Liturgy by attracting people through thorough preparations before the celebrations
â— To develop the knowledge and skills of the preachers to be well vested in the content of Bible passages and updated with new methods
â— To review regularly Liturgical hymns and texts used in the diocese with regard to inculturation
